A Sade cover always get me hyped, but when it’s Marsha Ambrosius slaying “Stronger Than Pride,” that’s a different level of legendary. The British singer just released her remix of Sade’s 1988 classic hit while adding her own spin by employing a sample from ’90s rapper Jeru the Damaja’s “Come Clean.”
Shot entirely in black and white, the creative video finds the singer visually recounting her story in reverse, starting from the bed and ending with her beau in the shower and with plenty of steamy action in between.
I won’t pretend that I intend to stop living
I won’t pretend I’m good at forgiving
But I can’t hate you
Although I have triedI still really, really love you
My love is stronger than pride
I still really, really love you
Did she do Sade justice?
